So, the other night I was surfing around Google Video looking at stuff on a topic I enjoy “domains.” Anyways, I stumble upon a video by Matt Cutts, and upon further inspection I see a tag for Gay Porn under his domain.

WHOA!

Ok, so I have heard that Matt’s a pretty nice guy, fun and all, but my curiousity is running now. Was that tag created by users messing with him, or has one of his counterparts at Google playing?

This also made me curious if someone could tag it with anything? ie; umpa lumpa love or some other nonsense…

Anyways, I thought this was definitely interesting and funny enough to share with the class. Enjoy this screen cap I caught just in case it gets fixed. Click on it to see the full version.

PS: Definitely go check out Matt’s Google Videos if you have any serious interest in SE marketing. He produced a good number of videos with some nice content on a variety of topics.

Apparently I missed the Internet’s Birthday 2 days ago on August 6th. I stumbled upon this article just today and thought I’d share with the class.

On that day in 1991 some computer code was put on alt.hypertext discussion group so that others could download and play with it. After reading that I wondered if this was also the birthday of the opensource movement?

Anyways, I hope you enjoy the read.

*** Update:� Apparently, as with trying to discern the actual date of Jesus’ birthday, so enters confusion to the exact date of the Internet’s birth.� While doing some research on general industry background information on domain names, I stumbled upon this article at UCLA that dates the origins of the Internet back to 1969.� I’d heard reference to ARPA net from programming classes back in the early 80s and while I was in the military but this is the first time I actually read specifically about the exact history and origin.

It’s another interesting read and also gives a clue to the origins of a fairly common greating amoungst techies “lo” .
