An Amusing Video on Web 2.0

Thought I’d make a quick post before I go on a road trip to LA for a few days.

Here’s an interesting video that provides an interesting narrative, so to speak, on what the web & this 2.0 thing is about.

Enjoy

Web 2.0, Halloween & Photo Mashups

A friend of mine shot me links to: & yesterday.

What exactly are they? They’re an example of these Web 2.0-ey mashups.

What the h*ll is that you ask?

Simply put, the mashup concept is a website/service that allows you to interact with existing content and create new ‘mashups’ from currently popular site(s) data & APIs (don’t ask me to explain much more or I’ll have to get uber-geek on you).

is a site that I am told will change thematically throughout the year and will allow for you to take flickr photos that you like and get shirts & other swag produced from them.

The few samples they have up now cover:

1) Google Logo Mashing
2) Hot Girls Mashing
3) Apple Logo Mashing

is another example of mashups meeting niche and seasonal themes.

I could easily picture other holiday and event mashups being created to allow you to find parties or events locally with the use of google maps & other data.

I’ll post more on mashups and Web 2.0-ey stuff as they’re often entertaining and VERY viral by nature.

Take care and have a great rest of the day!

Social Networking Sites for Marketing

So, this guy Shoemoney was up late using his friend’s “dirty perl script” as he referred to it, to send out emails letting people know that tonight’s show is going to be a discussion of marketing through forums and social networking sites.

Shoemoney’s Net Income show is definitely worth a listen and his blog is also completely bookmark-worthy. The Shoe has a nice combination of humor and giving up some free information, that quite frankly, I’m shocked he lets out of the bag at all.

It just so happens that I’ve been working on a myself. My list is a work in progress as I’m going down it discovering which are best for different niche industry markets. I’ll be building a private list with notations for future use of my own and with clients. Hope this current list is of use to anyone that stops by.

Enjoy!

Social Bookmarking

So today I decided to finally install a to this blog. I’d highly recommend doing this for friends and clients as it’s just another way to grow your blog’s traffic. Add some quality content that’s bookmark-worthy and you’re on your way.

Speaking of social bookmarking, I was doing some news digging and found that apparently google announced they were going to get in the game as these things have been growing like wildfire.

Google will extend its vertical search, social bookmarking, and desktop searching capabilities with new and improved products it announced yesterday.

Desktop searching has been a hot area for the past several years, as people have found desktop search tools useful for indexing and retrieving information on their hard drives. Meanwhile, social bookmarking services such as Yahoo’s Del.icio.us have become popular because they let users save links to Web sites they find useful, annotate the links, and share them with others. Finally, vertical search is another emerging area, because it lets users look for Web pages about specific topics and thus obtain a narrower set of results.
